"Dickens' dream", Robert William Buss (1875)

Dickens is undoubtedly London's writer. He was the first great writer to deal with the problems of an urban civilization. His London became the richest and most splendid European metropolis. He prtrayed London as a city of great contrasts in novels like "Oliver Twist" or "Little Dorrit".
